Resident-worn wearables offer a large, easy push-button to summon an attendant. These can be a pendant or wristband and are IP67-rated to dust- and waterproofing, with location services to reduce patient wandering.

Bedside modules are a fixed call device, for residents to quickly request assistance to their location. They also feature a magnetic connector for bedside handsets and are sealed for hygienic cleaning.

The room controller manages alerts and escalations within its area, directing information from the satellite hardware, eliminating a single point of failure.

Wireless sensors detect motion and smoke. With their discreet design they remain unobtrusive, while supporting the care of at-risk residents, and can be assigned to rooms, windows, doors, or beds.

Ascom Telligence is a next generation interconnected nurse call and integration solution developed for major hospitals.

This system provides caregivers with greater levels of information, at the point of care. It collates data from multiple sources including the patient themselves, medical devices, and other healthcare applications, and conveniently displays that for clinicians.

This data can also be exported, in an interoperable HL7 format, to an integrated Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

This system has been successfully deployed to major hospitals around the world, including the United States, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.

The centrepiece of the system is the Point of Care Hub. This collects and displays data for clinicians to absorb and understand, when performing care duties, as well as issuing and tracking tasks associated with the patient. The Hub also provides voice communication with other parts of the hospital, such as laboratories.

For the patient, there is the pillow speaker. This device helps patients make specific requests for assistance, such as notifying of pain, or asking for water. With Ascom SafeConnect™ it is also magnetised for easy access.

Using the Ascom Myco smartphones Telligence can provide automated presence tracking. This means recording time spent bedside and in-room, response times, and last known location, helping hospitals

A nurse call system is any method for a patient or resident to summon an attending nurse or other personnel for assistance. These can be as simple as a single push-button with a paging annunciator at a hospital nurse station, or a comprehensive and innovative solution such as the Ascom Telligence package above where patients can indicate types of help required, or with integrated sensors for automating the event, such as responding to an elderly resident falling.

Packages such as The Ascom Telligence offer integration capacity to that constellation of peripherals, including the Ascom Myco smartphones. For all other vendors, or for greater expansion, Ikonix Messenger integrates with a variety of nurse call solutions, connecting these with your communication technologies.

With most systems, there will be a method of alerting fixed or mobile personnel that a call has been raised. This could include:

Some complete or enclosed systems will have their own display outputs. Ascom Telligence is one example of this. For radio paging systems, where the nurse call button generates a page, this can be directed to an overhead LED annunciator. Where more capability is desired, a solution such as Ikonix Billboard might be more suitable, as it offers customisable workflows and display, either integrated into a large screen, or as a module for existing monitors.

Nurses and other support workers are necessarily mobile within their facilities. This requires them to receive notifications of patient requests on the go. With a messaging platform such as paging or Ikonix Connect, they can receive alerts to a pager, or the smartphone they already carry. With systems such as either Ascom package, this can include the Ascom Myco handset, to ensure constant connectivity.

For care residents, it’s important that the facility is monitoring them, to provide the best support. However, that can often be intrusive of their privacy, or overly time consuming. A system such as Ascom teleCARE IP provides a suite of sensors to discreetly monitor residents, and generate alerts when intervention is required. This includes geofencing, to help with wander management, or room or bed sensors, to detect movements and falls.
